Whether you are an out of town guest or a regular visitor there is always something new to find in Wascana Centre. In the next few weeks we’re going to highlight some of these areas and show you how Wascana Centre is The Place for You.

If it’s exercise/activity you’re interested in, many people visit us year-round to walk, run or bike our multiuse trails and pathways. The Blue Trail around the west part of Wascana Lake is just over 4K and the East Trail around the east part of the lake/marsh is 6.5K. Wascana is the location for many walks, runs, bike races and several marathons throughout the year so perhaps you’ll want to visit us to support a favourite cause.

If swimming is your thing, Wascana Pool is open throughout the summer and in the winter, we offer skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and tobogganing.

We have a Skate Plaza where you can try out your slides and grinds or perhaps Disc Golf is your passion and you’ll want to check out our 18-hole course. Do you like to canoe/kayak or use a SUP board? The Wascana Canoe and Kayak Rentals can assist or bring your own and check out Wascana Lake (west side only).

There are many pathways that lead off the main trails that will lead you to some of our more hidden spots or park partners…MacKenzie Art GalleryRoyal Saskatchewan MuseumSaskatchewan Science Centre and the Kramer IMAX Theatre. We also have Self-guided Tours where we provide the interesting facts, historical information and the pathway to follow. You can choose to walk around Wascana Lake or the Habitat Conservation Area (no dogs allowed).

If you’re into more serious sporting activities, Douglas Park is home to Canada Games Athletic Complex. There are ball diamonds, football field, tennis courts, cricket pitches and track and field facilities. Wascana Lake is home to the Regina Rowing Club and Wascana Racing Canoe Club and the Lakeshore Tennis Club is also located in Wascana Centre.

If you just want to meet up with some friends and toss a football, throw a Frisbee, do some yoga to perfect your tree pose or tai chi please do (just watch out for other visitors). Birders and photographers find the Centre a great place to pursue their passions. If it’s physical activities for children you’re looking for we have four playgrounds here, as well as the Skate Plaza and Wascana Pool.

As you can see, there are many ways to be active in Wascana Centre. We hope to see you soon!
