Wilderness Explorers

Wascana Centre is introducing a brand-new program, Wilderness Explorers, for those who are looking for something that will get their boots wet and hands dirty, something wildly extreme! This program will dig deeper into more sustainable skills that will allow you to empower and become a steward of nature. We will be learning about Indigenous games, carving out the tools to play a game, and taking a closer look at the importance of our tree canopy, protecting the canopy through planting trees in the park and caging them to protect them from rodents. We will also be taking things one step further with outdoor survival, teaching you the basic outdoor survival skills, fire building skills, water purification techniques and shelter building methods. To wrap up the spring session, we will be paddling over to an island where you will put your skills to the test while “marooned” on the island for the ultimate outdoor survival challenge!
